We arrived at Lady on Sunday November 4th, and met up with friends from Tulsa, Ron and Sarah Pederson, who came up from their Texas home in Galveston. After showing them around the boat, we ate at Phil's Oyster Bar in League City, and had fun catching up on news.
Monday was a day of errands: I did provisioning for the week; Charlie talked to Cesar who had been aboard the previous week doing a fabulous job installing the new Raymarine radar and who came by and taught Charlie how to operate it; Phil LeGere our wonderful electrician came by and after discussing the needs for a new masthead light, worked with Charlie on changing one of the shore power receptacles; Simon, our new carpenter (recommended to us by Phil) came by to discuss the requirements of setting up lee boards on our bed, which he plans to do later this month.
Tuesday - a visit to WestMarine - can you believe that we are only two blocks from such a great chandlery? Nolan, the manager, checked Charlie's list and ascertained that everything we needed was in stock, and then escorted him around the store finding all the bits and pieces. That afternoon we installed a hoist that Charlie had had delivered to the marina from Kato. The hoist is to get the dingy's motor aboat. We also added braces to the stern pulpit.
Wednesday - Little Lady was delivered! We went for a ride on Clear Lake.
Thursday - Sailing! Joe and Mary from Anytime Baby and Steve and Anneke from Prime Time joined us for a great sail. Anneke brought a delicious tuna casserole with her, which we warmed up and ate with a yummy bottle of wine that Joe had shown up with. Wind was out of the SSE, and we reached back and forth on Galveston Bay for a couple of hours doing about six and a half knots. It was cold for Texas, and we had jackets on for the first time this year for us.
A lovely week.
